Lower Sorbian to Dari: a detached description still belongs to its noun
An adjective near the beginning need not describe the whole event
Pankau’s colloquial Lower Sorbian research includes the marked sequence Rědny wón ma dom, interpreted as someone having a beautiful house. The descriptive word is separated from the house noun. Its early position does not turn the house’s quality into a statement that the person possesses something beautifully.
Entezar’s Dari grammar distinguishes attributive expressions such as ketaab-e khub, a good book, from the predicative ketaab khub-as, the book is good. These constructions keep a different relationship between the noun and the property. Selecting the target requires identifying which source relationship is intended.
For an original Lower Sorbian description of a person having a beautiful building, recover the adjective’s link to that building before forming the Dari phrase. Turning the adjective into a predicate about the owner would change who or what is beautiful. Retaining every content word would not prevent that mistake.
A source fronting pattern does not fix the target adjective position
Entezar also contrasts ordinary postnominal adjective linking with an emphatic prenominal expression in his discussion of good book. His account therefore does not support a universal rule that every Dari adjective must appear in one fixed position regardless of construction and emphasis.
Pankau, however, marks his detached-adjective Lower Sorbian example as a less neutral option. Its source order should not be treated as an ordinary template to copy into every target sentence. A structurally possible Dari expression and a marked Lower Sorbian expression do not automatically communicate exactly the same emphasis.
An original contrast meaning a beautiful house, not an ugly one makes the quality central. Another account may introduce a beautiful house without explicitly correcting a competing description. The target phrase should preserve the difference where it matters, rather than manufacture a correction just because the source has placed an adjective early.
Degree and comparison add separate meanings
Pankau further documents Lower Sorbian separation involving a degree expression and its adjective. A word expressing how strongly a property holds may therefore occur away from the descriptive word. It must be reconnected semantically before the target modifier phrase is assembled.
Entezar distinguishes the Dari comparative khubtar, better, from the superlative khubtarin, best, and describes degree modifiers preceding adjectives. These are not substitutes for an ordinary positive adjective simply because the source emphasizes a quality. Emphasis, a high degree and a comparison each contribute different information.
For an original Lower Sorbian evaluation meaning very good, do not upgrade it to best unless the source actually ranks the item against alternatives. For a statement meaning better than another option, do not reduce it to merely good. In this direction, recover which noun has the property, whether that property is asserted or used to identify the noun, and whether the source supplies a degree or comparison. The Dari construction should express those relationships together.
