Kannada to Malayalam: remove agreement without losing the subject
A repeated Malayalam verb can be entirely appropriate
Kannada finite verbs can mark the subject’s person, number, and gender. Ordinary modern Malayalam does not reproduce that system of subject agreement on its verbs. A Kannada change in the subject may therefore leave the Malayalam verb unchanged. Do not treat the absence of a matching target ending as proof that the translation missed the person.
What still matters is identifying the correct actor. If the Kannada relies heavily on a verb ending while omitting a repeated name, the Malayalam may need an explicit reference to keep the message clear. Preserve the information required to follow the action, rather than trying to transfer every source suffix into an invented Malayalam agreement pattern.
Courtesy needs a target-language choice
Kannada ನೀವು can address one person respectfully or several people. Malayalam has its own choices for respectful and familiar address. Establish the actual recipient and relationship before selecting the target wording; a plural-looking source form is not sufficient evidence that a group is involved.
Kannada ಅವರು may respectfully refer to one man or woman as well as to several people. Look back to the name or description it replaces. The Malayalam should preserve the same person and level of courtesy, but it need not imitate Kannada morphology. A direct name can help where a very short source message does not establish enough information for an appropriate pronoun.
Expect Malayalam to join parts of a phrase
Malayalam sandhi can combine words and alter their boundary sounds. For example, അത് ആണ് can become അതാണ്, expressing a relationship such as “that is.” A Kannada reader checking the output should not assume that every Kannada written word must have a separate Malayalam word with spaces on both sides.
When the translation looks unusually compact, first identify the combined expression. Removing letters or inserting arbitrary spaces may break an ordinary target form. If the message contains a negation or question, check that function as a whole, because a small joined grammatical element can determine whether the statement confirms, denies, or asks about something.
Translate vocabulary before considering script resemblance
Kannada ನೀರು and Malayalam വെള്ളം can both mean “water.” Their different written appearance is not a defect to be corrected through character substitution. Ordinary vocabulary should use a natural target expression, while personal names may require a conventional transliteration. Decide which task applies to each item.
Malayalam uses dependent vowels, consonant clusters, and chillu letters that have no simple character-by-character match in Kannada. Preserve the produced spelling when copying it into another application. A rendering problem should be checked as a display issue before the letters are edited. For a public notice, use a consistent written voice rather than a mixture of regional conversational features. Finally, compare names and reference codes against the source so the translated explanation still identifies the same place, person, or transaction.
