Spanish to Hindi: wanting, needing and advising require different constructions
A Spanish modal can express more than one kind of necessity
Spanish deber with an infinitive commonly expresses obligation, while deber de commonly expresses probability or supposition. The RAE also documents overlap: usage is not divided by an exceptionless rule based only on the presence of de. A Hindi translation must therefore identify whether the writer gives advice, imposes a requirement or estimates what is probably true.
A Spanish sentence suggesting that somebody should rest and a sentence estimating that somebody must be at home do different things. The first recommends an action; the second draws a conclusion about a situation. Translating both through a construction of advice would turn an inference into an instruction.
Hindi चाहना and चाहिए are not interchangeable
The University of Minnesota Hindi-Urdu lesson distinguishes चाहना, a verb expressing wanting, from चाहिए, whose interpretation depends on its complement. Its मुझे कुछ पैसे चाहिए expresses needing money, while बच्चों को जल्दी सोना चाहिए advises that children should sleep early. The same target predicate does not mean the same thing independently of the noun or infinitival construction.
This is useful for Spanish messages containing querer, necesitar and deber. Wanting to leave is not the same as needing an item for departure, and neither automatically advises somebody else to leave. Preserve the writer’s relationship to the action or object before selecting the Hindi construction. A broad English gloss such as need would conceal the distinctions if used as the sole bridge.
The person marked with ko is not an extra recipient
The lesson explains that the person associated with चाहिए appears with को. A Spanish subject expressing the person who needs something can therefore correspond to a target marked form rather than an unchanged nominative pronoun. That case change does not introduce a new person receiving an object from the original subject.
For a Spanish request about the writer needing money, the writer remains the person with the need. If the target clause is misread as money being given to another person, it has acquired a transfer event that the source did not state. Identify the experiencer or obligated person together with the needed noun or proposed action.
Past advice does not report successful completion
Minnesota illustrates चाहिए with past auxiliary material as a should-have construction. Its interpretation differs from a factual statement that the action occurred. A Spanish sentence expressing what somebody should have done must not become a Hindi report that they actually did it. The recommendation can concern an unrealized action.
The reverse distinction also matters when Spanish deber expresses probability about a past situation. The writer may be estimating what happened rather than criticizing a missed obligation. Read the complete exchange, including the reason offered for the estimate, before selecting a target construction. A modal’s dictionary equivalent cannot decide that interpretation alone.
For Spanish-to-Hindi translation, separate desire, noun need, advice, obligation and supposition before rebuilding the predicate. The Hindi complement type and case marking express relationships that Spanish distributes differently. Keeping those relationships intact prevents a practical request from becoming a command, an inference from becoming advice or a missed action from becoming an accomplished fact.
