Persian to Kazakh: an unchanged noun after a number can still describe several items

The number is part of the meaning, not a decorative label

A Persian supply request can name ten items while leaving the counted noun in its singular form. Kazakh also has a documented numeral construction without a plural ending on the following noun. Do not reduce either message to one item simply because the noun lacks the plural shape familiar from an English translation.

The University of Texas counting lesson illustrates Persian yek ketāb and dah ketāb, one book and ten books. It also distinguishes specialised counting words from colloquial generic tā. The numeral establishes quantity; the counting expression must be interpreted as a whole rather than treating each visible word as another object.

Tatiana Valyayeva’s Kazakh cardinal-number lesson explains that nouns following numerals do not take plural endings, illustrated by four spoons and fifteen plates. These examples support a useful comparison between the two languages without requiring a word-for-word match between their counting constructions.

A replacement order needs the number of parts, not the number of packages

Imagine a Persian-speaking repair coordinator ordering replacement handles from a Kazakh-speaking supplier. The request specifies six handles, while a later note mentions two packages. This original maintenance scenario contains a count of parts and a separate count of containers. Neither quantity should silently replace the other.

The supplier might pack three handles in each of two packages, but that arrangement must come from the correspondence. It cannot be inferred from the numbers alone. A translation should preserve six handles and two packages without inventing how the contents are divided, especially if one package contains other repair materials.

If the coordinator revises the order to eight handles, identify whether the revised number replaces the original total or requests additional stock. The absence of a plural noun ending does not answer that commercial question. Keep any source wording about an extra quantity or a replacement total attached to the appropriate number.

A count should survive copying into a shorter message

A brief follow-up may omit the noun after it has already been established. Keep the relevant earlier line available when translating that reply. Otherwise, a bare number can be mistaken for a package count, an order reference, or an amount of money instead of the quantity of handles under discussion.

Persian generic tā is a counting word in the lesson’s colloquial examples. Its presence does not by itself instruct the supplier to deliver pairs, despite the lesson’s explanation of its origin. Read the actual numeral and counted item, rather than adding an extra multiplication that changes the order.

Before sending the Kazakh request, reconcile the part count, the packaging information, and any later revision. The target noun may correctly remain without a plural suffix after its numeral. What matters operationally is that the translated request preserves the stated quantity and its unit, with no imagined packing arrangement or unrequested addition to the order.
