Persian to Traditional Chinese: rā does not automatically select a 把 sentence

Persian marks an object without specifying its whole outcome

Roberts illustrates Persian rā and its spoken variants at the end of object noun phrases. An object can include an owner and descriptive material before the marker appears. This identifies the relevant phrase within the event; it does not supply a Mandarin result complement or require the object to be moved into a 把 construction. For a Traditional Chinese translation, read what actually happens to the item as well as which item the Persian phrase identifies.

The sketch discusses examples where specific indefinite objects also carry this marker. Its presence should consequently not be reduced to a mechanical instruction to add the equivalent of the before a target noun. In a Persian instruction about a named or already discussed item, the object may be highly identifiable, but the target verb still needs a suitable construction. Reference and the action’s effect are related questions, not interchangeable pieces of grammar.

A Persian command may specify holding rather than transfer

The University of Texas imperative lesson illustrates in rā dāšte bāš, have or hold this. The expression combines a marked object with a construction involving the participle of have and an imperative of be. Translating each component literally would obscure the instruction. For Mandarin, establish whether the recipient should retain the item, move it somewhere or cause a different outcome before deciding how to package the object.

The lesson separately distinguishes a compound involving the verbal stem dār from this have construction. Similar Persian material therefore need not describe the same action in every command. It also gives affirmative and preventive forms, so an instruction to act on an item must be distinguished from one prohibiting that action. A target object-before-verb order cannot rescue an incorrectly chosen event. Preserve the source command’s intended operation before adjusting its Mandarin word order or adding a result expression.

Mandarin 把 presents an affected item within a fuller predicate

Wheatley’s Mandarin lesson contrasts Qǐng dǎkāi chuānghu, a request to open a window, with Qǐng bǎ chuānghu dǎkāi, directed at a specific window. The lesson describes 把 as highlighting an item affected or changed by the action and associates it with action-result combinations or other expanded predicates. This gives a useful possible construction for Persian instructions about manipulating a particular object, rather than a universal equivalent of rā.

The same lesson places a negative before 把 in its example of somebody not opening the window. A Persian negative prefix attached to the verb must therefore be interpreted at clause level rather than copied into the position following the target object. Its fuller discussion also distinguishes an action’s destination from the place where an activity happens. When Persian tells somebody to place an item somewhere, retain that endpoint; a location describing where the speaker performs the activity is not the same information. These are Mandarin construction choices, independent of presenting the written result in Traditional Chinese characters.
