Finnish to Central Kurdish: a pronoun attached to door can still mean for me
Finnish keeps a recipient visible through its case form
A Taste of Finnish gives Kirjoita minulle, write to me, and Toisitko minulle vettä, would you bring me some water. Minulle identifies the speaker in a recipient-related construction. It does not mean that the act of writing or the water has been renamed mine.
A Central Kurdish translation may distribute the corresponding person information differently. The target should preserve the speaker as the relevant recipient or beneficiary without expecting a separate pronoun to remain in the same position as Finnish minulle. An attached pronoun is not automatically an ownership suffix in every construction.
Sorani can place a prepositional pronoun on earlier material
Thackston’s Sorani grammar compares dargâ bikanawa bo min with dargâm bo bikanawa for opening the door for me. In the second arrangement, the first-person enclitic is attached to the door word but functions with the for relationship. The door is not necessarily the speaker’s property.
The source Finnish examples concern writing and bringing water, so the door sentence is not their full translation. It demonstrates a target grammatical issue that matters when preserving the recipient: the pronoun’s physical host need not be the noun whose owner it identifies. Its role can belong to a following prepositional construction.
This is consequential when a Finnish request names an object shared by several people. A target suffix resembling my should not be interpreted as an added ownership claim if its construction instead identifies the beneficiary. The same item can remain communal while the requested action is carried out for one particular person.
Pronunciation grouping does not erase the larger relationship
The Sorani grammar explains that a preposed enclitic is pronounced with the word hosting it. That phonological grouping matters, but it does not make the entire expression a possessive noun phrase. The following preposition and predicate remain necessary to understand the person relationship.
For the Finnish water request, preserve the recipient separately from the water’s quantity and the politeness conveyed by conditional wording. A target arrangement that encodes the person through an enclitic still needs to ask for bringing the water; choosing a clear beneficiary form cannot repair a change into a statement that the speaker already possesses it.
The target resource distinguishes full independent-pronoun complements from enclitic arrangements, with different positioning conditions. The translator must choose a complete appropriate construction rather than detach an enclitic and insert it wherever the Finnish case-marked pronoun appeared.
For Finnish into Central Kurdish, recover who receives or benefits from the action and interpret any target clitic through its construction. Do not read ownership directly from the noun it happens to attach to. This preserves Finnish minulle reference even when Sorani places the person information earlier and lets the following preposition supply the relationship.
