English to Telugu: make the audience visible
“You” is not a complete instruction for Telugu grammar
Telugu distinguishes familiar నువ్వు from మీరు, which can address one person respectfully or a group. English “you” leaves that choice unstated. For a message to an unfamiliar professional contact, respectful wording is often suitable; for a close friend, a familiar form may fit. The right choice comes from the relationship rather than the length of the English sentence.
Keep the rest of the sentence consistent with the chosen pronoun. A respectful opening followed by a familiar verb ending can sound uneven. This matters when adapting a saved message: changing the recipient’s name is not always enough. Recheck the pronoun and verb if a response written for a friend is being reused for a customer or elder.
Define who is included in “we”
Telugu మేము excludes the person being addressed, while మనం includes that person. English uses “we” for both. A statement from a business to a customer may describe what the company will do, whereas a shared plan describes what writer and reader will do together. Selecting the wrong Telugu form changes that relationship.
For an announcement such as “We will meet tomorrow,” establish whether the recipient is expected at the meeting. Do not turn an internal team update into an invitation through the pronoun alone. Equally, do not distance the reader from an activity they are meant to join. This is a small grammatical choice with a practical effect on how the message is understood.
Ownership does not follow English word classes exactly
“My book” is నా పుస్తకం. In a fuller expression, “This book is mine” can be ఈ పుస్తకం నాది. The distinction between నా and నాది belongs to how the possessive functions in the sentence. A dictionary equivalent for “my” cannot simply be pasted wherever English uses either “my” or “mine.”
When translating a label or form field, determine whether it names an owner’s item or makes a statement about ownership. These different tasks can need different Telugu forms. The same care helps with “your account” versus “the account is yours.” Read the whole intended assertion before deciding which possessive expression is appropriate.
Choose respectful reference without changing identity
Telugu third-person reference can encode respect and proximity as well as gender. A message about an older person or professional contact may need a different form from an intimate conversation. English “he” or “she” does not supply all those social details. Retain an established name where the relationship is unclear rather than guessing an elaborate honorific.
Telugu spelling combines consonants with vowel signs and other marks. Keep these intact when copying the output, and check a name against its conventional Telugu spelling if one exists. A reference code should keep its original characters even when its explanatory sentence changes language. Before sending a practical message, compare names, amounts, and dates independently of how fluent the Telugu sounds; grammatical polish does not guarantee that an identifier survived correctly.
