English to Central Kurdish: specify Sorani and build the whole noun phrase

The target is Central Kurdish, not a generic Kurdish script choice

Central Kurdish is commonly called Sorani. It differs from Northern Kurdish or Kurmanji in vocabulary and grammatical structures, so selecting the target involves more than changing an alphabet. Do not combine a Kurmanji phrase with Sorani endings merely because both resources carry a Kurdish label.

The usual Sorani writing system is Arabic-based and includes Kurdish-specific letters and vowel conventions. Sharing a script family does not make Persian or Arabic words interchangeable with Kurdish. Preserve the intended variety through the whole message, and retain a regional term or name when it identifies the person, place, or institution the English writer actually means.

English a and the can become noun suffixes

“A book” can be “کتێبێک,” while “the book” can be “کتێبەکە.” The reference distinction is built into the target noun phrase rather than represented by one separate word in the English position. Translate the phrase as a unit, including any descriptive or possessive material.

For an instruction about a document, establish whether the reader already knows which document is intended. A source can be grammatically brief yet depend on a previous message to identify the item. Keep a ticket number, file name, or other explicit identifier attached to the right noun instead of letting a generic phrase replace a specific practical reference.

Person marking needs the actor and the affected item identified

Sorani can represent participants through attached person markers and constructions that differ from ordinary English word order. Before composing a sentence about sending or receiving something, identify the actor, recipient, owner, and object. A recognizable set of target words is not enough if their grammatical links change who performs the task.

Past transitive constructions require particular attention. Do not assume that a form used for a present actor can be placed unchanged into every past event. Choose the actual target pattern and check its attached markers together. This keeps a completed work update from accidentally describing another person’s action or possession.

Gender contrast may need names, while technical strings need preservation

English he and she can distinguish two people in a paragraph, but Sorani does not preserve that contrast through a comparable grammatical gender system. Repeat the names where the reference would otherwise become ambiguous. Do not add unnecessary gender descriptions to every sentence simply to reproduce an English pronoun contrast.

English singular they also requires the actual number to be understood. Preserve an individual as an individual rather than turning a neutral reference into a group. Finally, keep URLs, email addresses, figures, and official quoted identifiers usable inside right-to-left prose. The surrounding sentence can change script while a technical string remains exact. Review the result for clear participant reference, negation, and completion status rather than judging it only by its visual fluency.
