Bosnian to Uyghur: distinguish the source case relation from the target suffix sequence

Shared case terminology does not make noun endings interchangeable

Bosnian and Uyghur both mark grammatical relationships on nominal expressions. That similarity offers a useful starting point, but their suffixes and the constructions selecting them differ. A Bosnian case ending identifies part of the source analysis; it does not directly provide the Uyghur ending.

The Bosnian specification illustrates čovjeku as dative. Indiana University’s Uyghur structural list includes dative variants such as -غا and -گە, alongside locative -دا and ablative -دىن. Direction toward someone, location at a place and origin from somewhere remain different relationships even when they occur with the same noun stem.

For a Bosnian instruction involving a recipient and a destination, establish which phrase identifies the person receiving something and which identifies the place. The appropriate Uyghur case construction may use related-looking suffixes, but the source roles should not be merged merely because both can be described broadly as a direction.

The Indiana assessment document specifically records learners omitting or confusing case endings. A target noun whose basic vocabulary is correct can consequently still place a participant at the wrong location or assign the wrong relation to the action.

Possession adds another layer to the noun

The same structural list gives ئانام as a possessive example, my mother, and distinguishes possessive endings from case endings. A source Bosnian owner expression may therefore correspond to morphology attached to a Uyghur noun rather than to a separate word immediately before it.

Bosnian possessive agreement can make the source owner and the possessed noun look closely connected through endings. Uyghur also combines information, but the target suffix sequence must follow Uyghur structure. A feminine source agreement ending is not a cue to invent a parallel target gender ending.

When a source phrase identifies a relative and then assigns that relative a recipient or location role, ownership and case both matter. Preserving the relative’s lexical root without the right owner can identify another person; preserving ownership without the required case can change that person’s role in the instruction.

The source reflexive possessive svoj requires particular attention to its antecedent. Establish which Bosnian participant owns the item before interpreting a target possessive suffix. The target’s compact spelling does not make the owner self-evident when the source contains several participants.

A question is more than a statement with different punctuation

Indiana’s list includes the Uyghur interrogative particle -مۇ and separately notes errors in forming present-future questions. The particle belongs to a grammatical construction rather than serving as a visual synonym for a question mark.

A Bosnian source asking whether an action will happen must remain a question. A target that retains the right verb and time reference but loses its interrogative structure can become a promise or an assertion. Conversely, adding question morphology to an affirmative source can weaken a commitment into an enquiry.

This direction therefore requires tracking several independent relationships: the source noun’s case role, the person identified as owner and the clause’s status as a question or statement. Uyghur can package them through suffixes and particles that differ from Bosnian endings. Comparing those functions is more reliable than expecting each source ending to reappear in the same order or as the same number of written words.
