Bangla to Kinyarwanda: the person affected by a verb can be marked inside it

A changed object marker can reverse the personal relationship

Harvard’s ELIAS lessons contrast Urankunda, you like me, with Ndagukunda, I like you. A Bangla translation must preserve who holds the feeling and who receives it before selecting the target construction. The same two people and the same general action do not guarantee the same relationship.

This matters in a personal message that alternates between the writer’s feelings and the listener’s response. A target verb can sound plausible while reversing the direction. Assign the Bangla actor or experiencer and the affected person separately, then evaluate the target subject and object information together instead of checking only that a like-related root is present.

A person marker has different shapes in different constructions

The ELIAS table gives Uramfasha for you help me, contrasting an m element with the n element in its liking example. A Bangla source reference to the same speaker therefore does not require an identical-looking target object sequence after every action.

This becomes useful when a source conversation shifts from affection to assistance. The participants can remain unchanged while the target construction changes shape. Do not replace the documented form to make it look like the earlier verb. Continuity of source reference means that the same person is affected, not that every target word must contain the same letters in the same position.

An item reference follows its target noun class

The same lessons show object markers for nonhuman nouns, including distinct patterns for a book and books. A Bangla expression broadly glossed as it must therefore be connected to the actual target noun before the marker is selected.

A source paragraph may discuss a person helping the writer and then mention a book that person carries. The object of helping and the object being carried are different referents. A target marker suitable for the writer should not be carried into the next predicate merely because the same conversation continues. Identify each action’s affected participant, whether human or an item, before building the Kinyarwanda verb.

Source respect is independent of object count

The Bengali grammar distinguishes ordinary tumi and respectful apni with corresponding verb forms. If the source listener is one respected person, that relationship should not be misread as evidence for several target objects or listeners.

The source also distinguishes an individual ami from group amra. One speaker can address a respected individual about several objects, and a group can address one listener about one item. Kinyarwanda combines participant information compactly, making it important to preserve those separate counts. A correct marker for a plural object cannot repair a subject that mistakenly turns the source writer into a group. The complete verb should express the Bangla event’s actual participants and direction, rather than merely collect plausible person markers.
