Bangla to Bashkir: ownership and object marking can both change the noun

আমার can become a suffix on the Bashkir noun

Dimock and colleagues analyze Bangla আমার as first-person possession before a noun. Bashkir can mark the owner directly on the possessed noun. The Academy of Sciences morphology account illustrates китабым, my book, alongside китабың, your book, and китабы, his or her book.

The source possessive does not simply disappear when no separate target word occupies its position. Its contribution can be expressed in the target ending. At the same time, the suffix must identify the right owner: a Bangla phrase with আমার and one with তোমার cannot receive the same Bashkir personal possession form merely because both concern a book.

The citation form can change before the possessive ending

The Bashkir examples begin with китап, book, but show б in китабым. Poppe’s manual describes the sound and form changes involved when endings are attached. A dictionary headword and an inflected word therefore need not contain an identical visible stem throughout.

Bangla readers accustomed to spotting a noun after a separate possessive should not interpret this change as a different object. Conversely, a translator should not rebuild the word by mechanically joining an unchanged dictionary spelling with a memorized ending. The Bashkir inflected form, rather than the source spacing, determines the correct written result.

A specific object differs from an unmarked general object

Poppe distinguishes a bare, nonspecific direct object from an accusative-marked identified object. His book examples contrast китап with китапты in those functions. This means that a Bangla noun translated as book does not necessarily retain the same Bashkir form in every reading or buying statement.

The Bangla course describes object-related marking and qualifiers that help establish reference. The target still requires its own decision about the object construction. A classifier or demonstrative indicating a particular source book is evidence about meaning, rather than an instruction to copy its shape as a Bashkir suffix. The target ending marks its own grammatical relation.

A Bangla human classifier is not a Bashkir noun-class label

Dimock and colleagues distinguish Bangla -জন, used for humans, from a more general counting qualifier. Their দুজন ভাই counts two brothers. That source classifier helps interpret the counted expression, but it should not be translated as if it named an inherent Bashkir grammatical class corresponding to every human noun.

The Academy account instead describes Bashkir nouns through number, case, possession, and predicative categories. These distinctions can interact on a word that the Bangla source presents through separate material. For a counted, possessed object or person, preserve the quantity and owner first, then form the required target noun. The visible Bangla classifier, possessive, and case material need not survive as three separately spaced Bashkir words.
