Azerbaijani participant counts and Rundi noun agreement
A person word can change at its beginning
Azerbaijani frequently marks grammatical information through endings. Rundi, or Kirundi, uses noun prefixes and related agreement patterns, so a change at the beginning of a target word may carry information that the source expresses elsewhere.
The Cox lesson contrasts “umugabo” with “abagabo” for a man or husband versus men or husbands. These are related number forms rather than unrelated vocabulary. The target prefix should not be treated as an optional decoration before a familiar noun stem.
For an Azerbaijani message about one person arriving or several people working, preserve the actual count. A recognisable target person word is insufficient if its prefix identifies a different number from the source. The predicate must be reviewed with it.
The verb follows the participant’s number
The same lesson contrasts “arakora” with “barakora” for a singular person working and plural people working. The target verbal prefix participates in agreement. A source person ending cannot simply be attached to a Rundi action stem instead.
Azerbaijani mən and biz distinguish the individual writer from a group, while third-person source reference distinguishes a person from several people through its own forms. The target needs the same participants without copying the physical location of the source marking.
If the source changes from one colleague to a team, do not edit only the target noun and leave the predicate unchanged. Conversely, a group mentioned earlier does not make every later action plural; the source can return to one named person.
Human reference is not identical to social respect
Azerbaijani siz can address one person respectfully as well as multiple listeners. A target plural noun-class or agreement prefix should not be selected solely because the source uses respectful wording. Determine whether the source actually represents several people.
This distinction is useful in a formal message addressed to a single supervisor but reporting on a team. The listener and the workers are different references. Target agreement with the team should not turn the supervisor into another group.
Azerbaijani o also leaves sex unspecified. The singular Rundi working form in the lesson can refer to he or she; its agreement does not by itself require the translator to invent a male or female identity. Use the source lexical description where that distinction actually matters.
A noun class is not a universal semantic translation key
The Rundi course describes several noun classes, with noun prefixes influencing related words. Azerbaijani does not supply a matching class label for each item, so the selected target noun determines the appropriate agreement rather than the source ending.
A request mentioning people and equipment can contain different agreement patterns. Do not give every target item the human plural prefix merely because several things are being counted. Number and lexical class are related target choices, not one interchangeable category.
For this direction, identify each source participant and quantity, then check the Rundi noun and predicate together. This preserves who works or travels while allowing the target to organise number at the beginning of words rather than through Azerbaijani-style endings.
