Azerbaijani family possession and Maithili agreement

The owner can affect more than the noun phrase

Azerbaijani possessive morphology identifies whose relative or item is mentioned. Maithili research describes particular constructions where the possessor additionally affects verbal agreement. The target may consequently encode a relationship outside the noun phrase that an Azerbaijani reader expects to find on the possessed noun.

The research example “toh-ər beta” identifies your son with a nonhonorific second-person possessor. In the reported sentence about sleeping, the son is the sleeper while the parent is the possessor. Agreement associated with the parent does not turn that parent into the person who slept.

For an Azerbaijani family update, identify both roles before inspecting the target predicate. A correct word for son does not prove that the translated sentence preserves who acted or whose child is described.

Source respectful you does not determine every target honorific feature

Azerbaijani siz can address one person respectfully or several people. Maithili “अहाँ” illustrates honorific listener reference. Its target relationship should be chosen from the source audience and social context rather than treated as a masculine or feminine version of you.

The Azerbaijani familiar sən does not itself express listener sex, either. Target honorific choices concern another grammatical dimension. A source message to a parent, a close friend and a professional contact can call for different treatment even where the basic person and number remain the same.

Keep the Maithili pronoun, possessive construction and predicate consistent. A respectful greeting alone cannot settle the agreement on a family report that follows it.

The relevant pattern is restricted, not universal

The research also discusses “hun-kər beta” with an honorific third-person possessor. Its interpretation concerns a person’s son, while the agreement conditions additionally involve honorificity. An Azerbaijani third-person possession does not carry an automatically matching Maithili agreement package.

The authors distinguish person conditions and subject-versus-object possessive environments. Their finding is not a rule that every possessor controls every target verb. A family example must not be extended to an unrelated object phrase merely because both contain ownership.

For a source report that somebody’s child saw another person, separate the child acting, the parent possessing the relationship and the person seen. The target can involve several agreement-relevant relationships, so selecting an ending from the nearest noun is unsafe.

A who question needs the missing role identified

Maithili “के” can ask who. A source Azerbaijani question asking who owns an item differs from one asking who performed an action. The missing information determines the target construction; a correct interrogative word does not settle its grammatical role.

An elliptical family reply may identify a parent or child while leaving the preceding action understood. Keep that question available when translating the answer. Otherwise a name-only source fragment can be assigned to the wrong role.

For this direction, review actor, possessor and honorific relationship separately, then check the complete target agreement pattern. These decisions preserve the Azerbaijani family account without mistaking a person feature on the Maithili predicate for a simple label of the actor.
