Azerbaijani group invitations and Filipino event focus
Which people belong to we?
Azerbaijani biz identifies a group including the speaker without itself distinguishing whether the listener is included. Filipino makes that distinction through “kami”, which excludes the listener, and “tayo”, which includes the listener. A target invitation can therefore require information supplied by the exchange rather than by the source pronoun alone.
If an Azerbaijani team tells a customer what we completed, the customer may be outside the team. If the same writer proposes what we should do together, the listener may be included. Reusing one Filipino pronoun for both can change who is expected to act.
Identify the membership of the source group before selecting the target phrase. Friendly tone does not automatically establish inclusive reference, and a formal message does not automatically exclude the listener.
Completed work and work underway have different forms
The Hawaiʻi teaching lesson explains Filipino aspect through completed, continuing and contemplated actions. Azerbaijani tense and aspect should be interpreted for the event’s development rather than mapped to a target form solely because an English grammar label looks familiar.
The familiar comparison between “kumain” and “kumakain” illustrates completed versus ongoing or habitual eating in the relevant constructions. These are not one simple present-versus-past switch applicable to every surrounding clause.
For an Azerbaijani invitation, distinguish a meal that already happened from one underway and one merely planned. Keep the source time expression with the event, but do not assume that the date alone settles whether a completed or continuing target form is needed.
The highlighted participant may change the verbal construction
Filipino verbal patterns organise which participant is marked by the relevant sentence construction. A target verb form can consequently change when the actor or affected item is presented differently. Azerbaijani case marking does not provide an identical mechanical guide to that choice.
In a source message about a colleague preparing food, identify the colleague as actor and the food as affected item before checking the target. A sentence focused on what was prepared still needs to preserve who prepared it, where that identity matters.
The NIU verbal-sentence lesson is useful because it treats the construction as a complete relationship between predicate and participants. Looking only for a translated action root can miss a target phrase that gives the wrong person the central role.
Respectful source address still needs its own target treatment
Azerbaijani siz can address one respected person or a group. Filipino has its own courteous usage, so source plurality and social relationship must be understood separately. A polite invitation should not gain extra guests merely because a target expression can have plural associations.
The listener addressed politely may also be excluded from an earlier kami report and included in a later tayo proposal. Check the membership again when the source changes from an update to an invitation.
For this direction, follow who belongs to the group, what stage the event has reached and which participant each target construction organises. These are the decisions that preserve the Azerbaijani exchange beyond a word-for-word rendering of its pronouns and verbs.
