Azerbaijani work updates and Cantonese event particles
An earlier activity can still be ongoing
Azerbaijani tense and predicate context can describe a completed task or work underway at an earlier time. Cantonese aspect particles must reflect that event presentation rather than be chosen from the date alone. A source mention of yesterday does not make every target predicate perfective.
The Cantonese grammar illustrates progressive “緊” in an example of a building still being constructed at a past time. Its perfective “咗” instead presents a bounded event in the relevant constructions. Both can occur with earlier time settings without expressing the same stage of work.
For an Azerbaijani update about a repair, distinguish that somebody was working on it from that they finished it. Keep the source completion statement, duration and time expression together. A fluent target work verb does not prove that the same promise or result has been communicated.
The target grammar also uses particles for several other event distinctions. The two illustrations are not a complete tense conversion chart. Interpret the actual source claim before deciding which target construction fits.
The negative must deny the same proposition
Cantonese “冇” and “唔” participate in different negative environments. The grammar uses 冇 in an example denying that rain occurred today. A source Azerbaijani verbal negative cannot be translated through one permanent target equivalent regardless of predicate and event meaning.
If the source says that a person has not gone out today, preserve that time-bounded denial. A statement that they never go out or do not intend to go out is a different proposition. The same target action root can occur while the negative changes the practical interpretation.
Azerbaijani nominal negatives with deyil also differ from verbal negative morphology. That source distinction is useful evidence, but it is not a guarantee of a one-to-one mapping onto the two target forms. The complete Cantonese construction remains decisive.
Courtesy and script do not determine the event meaning
Azerbaijani siz can address a respected individual or a group, while Cantonese organises interpersonal meaning through wording and sentence-final particles as well as personal reference. A source respectful suffix does not instruct the translator to append one fixed particle after every clause.
Identify the listener separately from the person performing the work. A courteous report about a colleague can involve a different relationship from a request directed to that colleague. Likewise, source o leaves sex unspecified; a target expression should keep the person recoverable without inventing unsupported sex information.
This option requests Cantonese written in Traditional characters. Modern Mandarin converted to Traditional characters is not automatically Cantonese. Its negative vocabulary, aspect and conversational particles still need to belong to the requested target variety.
For a work update, check whether the task is ongoing or bounded, which proposition is denied and who receives any request. These specific decisions preserve the Azerbaijani event even though Cantonese places grammatical and social information in different parts of the sentence.
