Assamese to Chhattisgarhi: keeping an arrival update in the intended language
Shared Devanagari does not make the result Hindi
Chhattisgarhi and Hindi can both be written in Devanagari, but a translation into Chhattisgarhi should retain its own grammatical wording. Dr Vinod Kumar Verma’s native-language explanation contrasts Hindi and Chhattisgarhi examples directly. Familiar letters alone are not evidence that the target language is correct.
For an Assamese arrival update, keep Chhattisgarhi selected when revising the source. Do not replace an unfamiliar target ending with a Hindi ending merely because you recognize the latter from films or school. Check the complete statement with its intended readers, especially when the message is going to people in a particular district.
A single present description may cover either gender
Verma gives ओह गाना गावत हे as a Chhattisgarhi description corresponding to a male or female person singing. The target does not necessarily repeat the gender contrast visible in the alternative Hindi translations. An Assamese reference to a particular person should remain identifiable through the name and context where needed.
If two people are travelling, name each person when their plans differ. A report that one person is arriving while another is staying behind should not rely entirely on a repeated pronoun. The recipient needs to know whose arrival they should prepare for, regardless of whether a familiar-looking ending supplies a gender clue.
Respect and actual group size need their own checks
Assamese pronouns and second-person verbs can distinguish levels of respectful address. Research also distinguishes that honorificity from number. A polite enquiry to one host should not accidentally become an enquiry to several hosts, and a message about a group of passengers should keep its actual headcount.
The Chhattisgarhi grammar presents familiar and respectful address examples with different wording. Translate the request as a whole for the relationship involved. Changing only a pronoun in an earlier saved sentence may leave an instruction that no longer fits the intended exchange.
For a pickup, state how many passengers are coming, who will meet them, and whether the request is still awaiting agreement. Courtesy cannot substitute for those operational details. A respectful sentence can still leave the arrangement unresolved.
Recognize documented local alternatives
Verma notes variation within central Chhattisgarhi, including हे and आय in comparable contexts, and alternative forms in questions about coming. An unfamiliar form is therefore not automatically a typo. Avoid declaring one automatic translation the only possible local wording.
For a message intended for several communities, choose wording that readers across the intended area understand. For a personal message, a familiar local expression may be appropriate. Keep that audience context with a saved translation so you know why its wording was chosen.
Before sending the arrival update, confirm the traveller, passenger count, destination, date, and requested response. Preserve station names and booking references as identifiers beside the explanation. If the recipient corrects a local expression, save the corrected complete sentence with its setting rather than replacing that word blindly in unrelated messages.
