Arabic to Lingala: a preference, a request, and a negative are separate constructions

The participant changes at the beginning of the verb

Arabic agreement identifies person through its own verbal morphology. Lingala also uses participant marking, but the forms belong to a different system. The training examples contrast Nalingi kolia, I want to eat, with Olingi kolia, you want to eat. Their shared action does not make their subjects interchangeable.

For an Arabic meal message, distinguish stating the writer's preference from asking about the recipient's preference. The target's initial material may do important participant work even when the rest of the phrase looks identical. Keep each speaker's line separate during translation so that an answer about I does not become a question about you.

A negative preference does not automatically prohibit an action

The training material places te in a negative expression such as Nalingi kolia biloko ya pilipili te, a denial of wanting spicy food. Arabic negatives cannot be translated by placing an equivalent-looking element in the same source position. Read the complete target proposition first.

A person not wanting a dish is not the same as a person being forbidden to eat it. Likewise, lack of availability differs from lack of desire. State the intended meaning in the Arabic source when a short negative could support several interpretations. The Lingala should preserve what the speaker declines, lacks, or asks another person to avoid.

A named owner and a pronominal owner use related but different links

The manual contrasts ndako ya John with ndako na ye in ownership expressions. These show why translating an Arabic attached possessive requires more than selecting a fixed target word for of. The target form depends on how the owner is expressed in the phrase.

For an Arabic delivery note, identify whether the house or item belongs to a named person or to a person established earlier. Repeat the name when two owners could be confused. The person receiving a package and the person owning the destination property may differ, so check both relationships rather than the most prominent name alone.

The Arabic pair must stay exact

Arabic dual morphology can specify exactly two people or objects, while Lingala expresses number through a different agreement and quantity system. Retain the precise count for a booking or order instead of reducing it to a general group reference.

If the result will be spoken, learn the Lingala phrase with its tone rather than treating the Latin spelling as an Arabic pronunciation key. The training manual explicitly attends to tonal distinctions in teaching. A final review for this direction should follow participant marking in the preference phrase, the scope of te, the owner link, and the exact count. These checks protect the practical meaning of the Arabic exchange without forcing its grammatical pieces into unfamiliar target positions.
