Amharic to Tatar: distinguish a completed report from something learned indirectly
A reporting marker changes the claim
Amharic reports can encode their participants directly in verbal morphology. Tatar also has rich suffixation, but a target construction can additionally signal how information is presented. The linguistic reference identifies икән as associated with non-firsthand evidential meaning. It should not be treated as an optional filler merely because the action and people already appear elsewhere.
Before translating an Amharic update, distinguish what the writer witnessed from what somebody else reported or what the writer has just discovered. Those are different relationships to the information. A target statement should not sound like direct personal knowledge if the original carefully attributes the report to someone else.
A noun may be marked differently when the object is specific
Tatar can mark a definite object with accusative case while leaving an indefinite object bare. An Amharic sentence about a particular previously mentioned item and one about any item of that kind should therefore be checked separately, even if both contain the same lexical noun.
For a collection request, identify whether the recipient should bring a specific book already discussed or obtain a book generally. Add a title or other identifier in Amharic when the specific item matters. Then evaluate the target object construction as part of that complete request rather than stripping its ending to restore a dictionary-looking noun.
Being and negation have their own time patterns
Tatar can omit a visible copula in certain present statements, while the auxiliary иде is used in past copular constructions. The negative түгел likewise belongs to the target's own system. An Amharic present identification should not acquire a past interpretation simply because the editor expects every source copular element to have a visible Tatar counterpart.
For an employment message, distinguish who someone is now, what role they held earlier, and what they are not. The difference can affect a practical decision about whom to contact. A translation containing the right job title still needs the correct time and polarity of that role statement.
Personal gender is not a noun-class system
Burbiel's grammar states that Tatar lacks grammatical gender, while lexical vocabulary can distinguish male and female people or animals. This differs from relying on Amharic gender agreement to identify a participant throughout a narrative. Do not expect a Tatar ending to reproduce every masculine or feminine source cue.
Where two participants become difficult to distinguish, restore the relevant name at the transition. Preserve Tatar-specific Cyrillic letters when copying the result instead of normalizing them to familiar Russian characters. The review for this direction should follow information source, object specificity, the time of a role statement, and participant identity. Those are separate meaning decisions even when the target packages several of them within a compact word.
